Our Story

The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1952, when it was established to serve the growing communities of Apison, Collegedale, East Brainerd, and Ooltewah. Over the decades, the department has evolved into a vital emergency response organization covering more than 60 square miles and providing crucial services to over 40,000 residents in its primary service area.

Comprising of more than 140 dedicated personnel stationed across six strategically located stations, the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department is ready to respond to a wide range of emergencies 24/7. Our responsibilities extend beyond traditional firefighting to include technical rescues, medical assistance, and various support roles crucial to the smooth functioning of the department.

In addition to emergency response, the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department is actively involved in community outreach and education initiatives. We conduct fire safety events, collaborate with local schools and organizations on safety programs, and participate in events aimed at raising awareness about fire safety
